2020-21 Estate Planning & Probate SECTION REPORT
John Potter, Chair and Nancy Roberts, Vice Chair

During these unprecedented times, section leadership continued to offer section members various educational and networking opportunities to keep section members connected and informed during this unique and challenging year.

The section’s annual business meeting was held on September 14, 2020, during which, the chairs recognized outgoing Section leadership, met other section members, and reviewed the agenda and financial health of the section for the upcoming year.

During the year, the Section offered its members 9.5 hours of accredited CLE hours with the presentations of “Estate Planning Considerations for Veterans’, Estate Planning in 2021: Recent Statutory Changes, Cases & Legislative Proposals You Should Know About, “Guardianship - Do you have a case?”,” Trying Your Guardianship Case” and “Your Client has been appointed Guardian, Now WHAT?”.

Approximately seven of those hours were “Discounted” for section members.

The section also contributed 1.00 General hours, towards the Bar-Wide CLE, Annual Review with the presentation of “Estate Planning Update “.

The section also co-sponsored QPR: Suicide Prevention Training, a Bar Wide CLE, which offered 2.00 Substance Abuse / Mental Health CLE hours and complimentary admission for a limited number of MCB members.

Section members also received a $20.00 MCB CLE’s credit to be used for programs presented either via Live webinar, or a replay of a previously recorded program.

The section also hosted multiple virtual networking events, which gave members the opportunity to network and focus on discussions of common interest.

Through the diligent efforts of leadership and member support, section membership, and participation increased during the 2020-21 year.
