Plans educational programs about substantive and procedural laws governing trusts, probate estates, guardianships, conservatorships and matters affecting estate planning and administration. Hosts luncheons to promote collegiality among section members and Mecklenburg County estate clerks.

During the 2019-20-year, leadership of the Estate Planning & Probate Section offered various educational, social, and networking opportunities to assist with section member’s professional development aspirations.

The Annual Business Meeting was held in September.

The leadership of the Section participated in the 2020 Annual Review, with the presentation of the “Estate Planning Update”. “The Kastner Decision” was presented, in conjunction with the MCB Tax Section, in November and the webinar “Selecting the Right Philanthropic Vehicle was presented in June. Some proceeds from this webinar, were donated to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Covid-19 Response Fund, which was administered by Foundation for the Carolinas in partnership with the United Way of Central Carolinas. The program was also approved for Specialization Credit by the North Carolina State Bar.

Due to the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2, the multi section, Charlotte Knights Baseball game, social event was cancelled.

Through the efforts of the leadership and its member’s support, membership increased during the year.
