2026 Increasing Diversity in the Legal Profession Conference

Did you know that attorneys, judges, and legal professionals are essential players in shaping our society by advocating for policy and defending the law? Across all industries, those who work in the legal field collaborate to create the rules and strategies that govern our lives. Students and their family members are invited to join the Mecklenburg Bar Association’s (MBA) Pipeline Programming Subcommittee at a free one-day conference to explore the various career opportunities available as a legal professional across all industries.
The MBA’s 2026 Increasing Diversity in the Legal Profession Conference invites students (8th grade & up) to engage with local attorneys, judges, and law school representatives. Students and their family members will participate in activities and discussions exploring how to turn their academic interests into powerful opportunities for leadership and impact. This will be the 20th year for the Increasing Diversity in the Legal Profession conference which aims to encourage students to pursue a career in law.

Listen as panelists with different backgrounds share how their experiences and legal education contributed to where they are today. Participants will learn more about the academic and professional journey plus the skills and opportunities available along the way to law school. This discussion will demonstrate how you can apply your interests and passions to a legal education or career. |

Using trivia, this group activity will invite participants to test their knowledge of all things related to getting to and through law school. The entire crowd of participants will submit their individual answers using their phones/digital devices, the panelists will review the correct answer and add qualifying information. |
