Labor & EMployment Section

The Labor & Employment Section provides opportunities for attorneys practicing labor and employment law to meet with colleagues to discuss the issues they face in everyday practice. The Section is responsible for planning educational programs to further the knowledge of Section members in their practice, including information on employment litigation, labor relations and collective bargaining, unemployment benefits, wage and hour disputes, employment contracts, benefit plans/policies/handbooks. The Section also provides regular updates on Family & Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, ERISA, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Occupational Safety and Health claims.

2017-18 Labor & Employment Section Report
Susan M. Huber, Chair and Joshua R. Van Kampen, Vice Chair

In 2017-18, the Labor & Employment Section worked to build the Section membership and ensure members stayed up-to-date on relevant information and changes with regular section-wide communication. The year started off with a successful CLE program covering updated Employment Law topics. The Section then hosted two networking socials, offering new and potential section members an opportunity for networking, to get to know other practitioners and to set goals for the year. The Section also held an Annual Meeting in April to further develop Section goals and planning.

The section also sponsored the annual MCB Holiday Party.

Section leaders look forward to the upcoming year, including social opportunities and increased CLE programming.  Any ideas or suggestions for future events or CLE’s may be submitted to
