Upcoming Section Meetings

2018-19 Estate Planning & Probate Section Report
Michael F. Anderson, Chair and Kathryn B. Wysong, Vice Chair

In early October 2018, the Estate Planning & Probate section held a business meeting and a networking event. During that meeting the group planned and set dates to present two Continuing Legal Education programs, “Estate Planning Issues for Lawyers in All Practice Areas” and “Charitable Giving: Hot Topics, Ethics and Overview of Various Giving Strategies”. The “Estate Planning Issues for Lawyers in All Practice Areas” was held in Davidson, NC, to fulfil MCB President, Timika Shafeek-Horton’s vision to host Continuing Legal Education programs in various areas of the 26th Judicial District to serve MCB members in neighborhoods / areas that have been previously underserved.

In December, 2018, the section contributed $500.00 towards MCB’s annual Holiday Party and on June 13th, the section hosted a very well attended and successful “Low County Crab Boil” for Estate Planning and Probate section members and their guest.

Leadership worked throughout the year to build the section membership and keep members up to date on relevant information and changes with regular.

Section leaders look forward to the upcoming year, including social opportunities and increased CLE programming.  Any ideas or suggestions for future events or CLE’s may be submitted to sections@meckbar.org.
