2014 MCB Lawyer Referral Service Panel Member of the Year
Dexter G. Benoit
The Mecklenburg County Bar’s Lawyer Referral Service hosted its annual reception on June 12, 2014 at the Bar & Foundation Center in honor of the support and dedication of the LRS attorney panel members. The evening was filled with laughs and conversation as members of the Bar’s Board of Directors and staff mingled with panel members. There was much to celebrate, as the LRS program had its most financially successful year ever in 2013-14. Special thanks go to the following door prize donors: The Mint Museum, Dressler’s Restaurant and Beverly’s Gourmet Foods.
During the reception, Dexter G. Benoit of Benoit Law Firm was named the MCB LRS Panel Member of the Year. Due to a previously scheduled vacation, Mr. Benoit was unable to attend, but provided a video accepting the award and thanking those who selected him.
Mr. Benoit has been an LRS panel member for three years. He primarily practices in personal injury cases and, since many clients who call the LRS exhibit understandably raw emotions, his patience and willingness to lend a much needed ear leads to a positive client experience. Such an outcome between referred clients and LRS attorneys is vital to the program’s reputation in the community. One LRS client said, “Mr. Benoit was very professional and informative. He kept me up to date so there were no surprises.” Another LRS client commented, “He treated me like a person not a number.”
Mr. Benoit said that his experience with the MCB Lawyer Referral Service is, “one of the most rewarding experiences” with which he has had the pleasure of being involved. “As members of the Mecklenburg County Bar, we all have an amazing opportunity to reach and affect the lives of others in the local community. Oftentimes, the people we serve have little to no experience with the legal system and the processes that make that system work. You would be surprised how much you can help others just by listening to their concerns. It's an amazing program and I look forward to continuing to assist with the great work LRS does.”
