Volunteer Need / Commitment

Members of the Lawyer Referral Service Committee attend monthly committee meetings, monitor budget and finances of the LRS program, oversee panel membership rules and regulations, assist in marketing initiatives and evaluate program's effectiveness at year's end.

2019-20 Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) Committee Report
Joe Culik, Chair

Throughout the 2019-20 year, MCB attorneys were invited to participate in the MCB’s revamped Lawyer Referral Service (LRS).  The program was revamped with the guidance of a special LRS Taskforce, who submitted a report of recommendations to the MCB Board of Directors last year.

Under the new program, lawyers are free to set and collect their own consultation fees, manage their own online profiles and are no longer required to submit reports or pay commissions to the LRS.  The LRS Committee also directed its expense budget on a new advertising plan, which included a social media campaign on Facebook and Twitter.

The LRS is now a robust online system that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Prospective clients interested in seeking legal representation submit a form online to receive up to three referrals to lawyers whose practice area(s) match their legal needs.  The LRS averaged 233 unique clients per month in 2019-20, as compared to 100 per month the year before.

The Committee looks forward to increasing its recruitment and advertising efforts in 2020-21.  If you are interested in learning more, please visit www.MeckBar.org/JoinLRS or email LSAssistant@meckbar.org.
