2020-21 Labor & Employment SECTION REPORT
N. Renee Hughes, Chair and C. Granger Pearce, Vice Chair

During these unprecedented times, the leadership of the Labor & Employment Section continued to offer section members various educational and networking opportunities, which kept Section members connected and informed during this unique and challenging year.

The section held its annual meeting in early September during which, members had the opportunity to meet each other, incoming Section leadership as well as review the agenda and financial health of the section for the upcoming year. Section members were also given the opportunity to make recommendations for section activities.

The section provided section members 6.00 General CLE hours during the year, with the presentations of “The 2021 Employment Law Update”. This program was discounted for section members and the attendees had the opportunity to win a signed copy of "Noncompete Law", by the Honorable William "Bill" Constangy.

The section also co-sponsored QPR: Suicide Prevention Training, a Bar Wide CLE, which offered 2.00 Substance Abuse / Mental Health CLE hours and complimentary admission for a limited number of MCB members.

The section hosted multiple virtual networking events, which gave members the opportunity to network and focus on discussions of common interest.

As a “thank you”, section members received a gift card from Amazon. The section also made a generous contribution towards the MBF Covid-19 Relief Fund.

Through the diligent efforts of leadership and member support, section membership and participation increased during the 2020-21 year.
