2019-20 Labor & Employment SECTION REPORT
Frederick M. Thurman Jr., Chair and N. Renee Hughes, Vice Chair

During the 2019-20-year, leadership of the Labor & Employment section offered various educational, social, and networking opportunities to assist section members with their professional development objectives. Section leaders kept members informed of relevant information and changes associated with the practice of Employment Law.

The section held its Annual Business Meeting in September during which the goals and initiatives set forth by the section leadership for 2019-20 were presented to the section members. In December, the section co-sponsored the annual MCB Holiday, and in February, the “Employment Law” CLE was presented and included topics such as “Treating Mental Health Issues under ADA and FMLA”, “Collaborative Law in the Employment Arena”, “Immigration Topics for Employment and Business Lawyers”, “Motivational Interviewing” and “Trade Secret Protection and Trade Secret Claims”.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, planned socials were cancelled; however, to keep section members connected, the section hosted "Virtual Roundtable and Happy Hour" events.

The leadership of the Labor & Employment section is always exploring ways to enhance the membership experience. Please submit any ideas to
