Civil Litigation Section


Offers an annual CLE on litigation skills, effective advocacy, electronic discovery, litigation practice specialties, mediation and arbitration skills.  Promotes collegiality between the bench and Bar by hosting semi-annual luncheons with local, state and federal judges.

2019-20 Civil Litigation Section Report

During the 2019-20-year, leadership of the Civil Litigation section offered various educational, social, and networking opportunities to assist with section member’s professional development aspirations.

The section held its annual meeting in early August, during which, members had the opportunity to meet incoming leadership, review upcoming activities financial reports and vote on agenda items. In early October, Section members enjoyed an evening of networking at NAPA on Providence. In December, the section also co-hosted the Mecklenburg County Bar’s Holiday party. In early February, F. William DeVore, chair of the section presented “Introduction to Construction Litigation”, during the bar wide, Annual Review CLE.

Due to the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2, educational, social, and networking events, planned from March – June were cancelled, including a joint networking event that was planned with the Family Law Section, as well as, the multi section, Charlotte Knights Baseball game, social event was cancelled.

Through the efforts of the leadership and its member’s support, membership participation increased during the year.
