26th Judicial District Election 2018
Full Notice and Instructions:
All active members of the Mecklenburg County Bar (the 26th Judicial District Bar), as reflected on the official records of the North Carolina State Bar, have been requested to take notice that an election will be held to fill six seats on the State Bar Council effective January 1, 2019.
Of the six seats, one seat is currently held by Nancy Black Norelli, who has served three (3) three-year terms and is thus ineligible for re-election at this time. The following five incumbents are eligible for re-election:
The nomination deadline was September 27, 2018; any nominations received after that date will not be on the official ballot. Write-in candidates are permitted.
Voting begins October 1, 2018 at 12 a.m. and ends on October 19, 2018 at 5 p.m. This election will be held electronically pursuant to 27 N.C.A.C. 1A, Section .0805 of the Rules of the North Carolina State Bar. An online voting system vendor, Simply Voting, will send you a link and voting credentials (a unique username and password) to access the electronic ballot at the beginning of the voting period. This information will be sent to the e-mail address you have on file with the MCB. Please add firstname.lastname@example.org to your safe senders list.
Under the Rules of the State Bar, the election of a councilor must be by majority of the ballots cast. In the event a run-off is required for one or more seats, you will be notified via e-mail, and the run-off election(s) will begin on Monday, December 3, 2018 and will end on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.
