Legal Experience:

I have practised as an attorney in Wake County for over two decades.  I started with the largest law firm in the world at that time, Graham & James.  I subsequently worked at Moore & Van Allen, as a sole practitioner, and now as Special Counsel to Nexsen Pruet, a 190 lawyer law firm with 8 offices throughout the Carolinas.

Professional Involvement:

I have not only advised busineses as their lawyer.  I have, twice, been called upon to take an interim Presidential role with two troubled companies.  I understand business, both from a lawyer, and from an inside, perspective.

Civic and Community Involvement:

I have provided pro bono representation for religious and charitable nonprofit organizations in the Triangle community, and I've assisted dozens of charities with obtaining non-profit status. I am a fellow of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Healthy Community Institute, and have been an active volunteer with the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team. As a Red Cross volunteer, I've served as a primary responder in times of local disaster. As a training coordinator during Katrina relief efforts, I trained over 500 new Red Cross volunteers and was named an Outstanding Volunteer for 2005. For over two decades, I have been a significant supporter of the Small Business Center at Wake Tech. I have voted in 33 straight elections in North Carolina.

Please describe why you would be the best candidate for the open judicial position:

It would be an honor to serve the people of North Carolina as one of their Court of Appeals judges.  I have spent over two decades helping businesses start, grow, merge, and expand into foreign markets.  I bring an entrepreneurial, transactional business perspective to the Court at a time when commercial and economic issues are ever present.
