The Mecklenburg County Bar's Diversity & Inclusion Committee is excited to announce the 2013 Charlotte Legal Diversity Clerkship (CLDC) program; a highly competitive summer program for first-year law students who advance the value of diversity.

We are delighted to announce that the 2013 program will now have the capacity to invite eight students to participate and join the Charlotte legal community for twelve weeks during the 2013 summer, working six weeks for a law firm and six weeks with a corporate legal department. CLDC students will also participate in a variety of professional and social activities that highlight the cultural, social and professional benefits of living and working in Charlotte.

CLDC employers provide each clerk with an unparalleled level of experience and exposure to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg legal profession. Participating students will gain exposure to a variety of practice areas, expand their professional network, and participate in an assortment of legal proceedings that may include, but are not limited to hearings, closings, depositions and trials.

Founded in 2006, the CLDC operates with one basic goal - to improve the diversity in our Bar by attracting top first-year law students with diverse backgrounds to Charlotte. To date, the CLDC program has hosted 52 first-year students from 20 different law schools from across the nation.

Eligible students interested in practicing law in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg legal community are strongly encouraged to apply.
