Volunteer Need / Commitment
Members of the Community Services Committee attend quarterly committee meetings, review community service and volunteer project ideas, and look for additional opportunities to collaborate with the community. Interested in joining this committee? Complete the committee interest form.


2013-14 Community Services Committee Report

The Community Services Committee approved a record number of seven community service projects carried out by the MCB Young Lawyers Division, sections and committees.  The projects benefited the following local nonprofits:

·         Thompsons Child & Family Focus

·         Salvation Army

·         Larry King's Clubhouse

·         Truancy Court

·         Habitat for Humanity

·         Hidden Valley Community

·         Catholic Charities Diocese

 

The community service projects’ legal nexuses included:

·         Know Your Rights presentation by Council For Children’s Rights, DSS and CMPD to the children of Thompsons;

·         Answered legal questions for the women served by the Salvation Army Center for Hope;

·         Donated items supporting Larry King’s Clubhouse;

·         Donated items support children in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Truancy Court program;

·         Legal clinic, Know Your Rights and Know Your Court Presentations to members of the Hidden Valley Community; and

·         Attorneys spoke to a group of Habitat for Humanity home owners about what a will is and its importance. Volunteer attorneys also participated in a wills clinic.
