2013-14 Legal Volunteer Recruitment Committee Report

Megan Miller, Chair and Evan Sauda, Vice-Chair

This year, the Committee successfully implemented an online volunteer sign-up form that allows attorneys to idenitify a variety of areas of law in which they would be willing to provide pro bono service.  In addition, the Committee distributed a paper version of the volunteer sign-up form  at Bar meetings and CLEs.  With these new forms, close to 50 new attorneys signed up to take pro bono cases.

The Committee awarded Outstanding Individual and Outstanding Collaborative Project Awards for Extraordinary Pro Bono Service at the Bar Leadership Dinner in January.  Scott Ferguson of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice received the Outstanding Individual Award for his work on a child custory case.  Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein and Duke Energy were awarded the Outstanding Collaborative Project Award for their Crimianl Expungment Project.
