Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) is a public service project of the Mecklenburg County Bar and its panel of qualified lawyers.
LRS matches people who need a lawyer and can afford to pay with an experienced attorney licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina.
An LRS referral gives you a 30-minute consultation with one of our attorneys for only $50.00. ($50 fee may be waived in cases involving personal injury, medical malpractice, workers compensation, and social security disability.)

I Need to Speak With a Lawyer - What Should I Do?
Submit a Lawyer Referral request directly via this site and LRS will contact you with the name of a qualified attorney accepting referrals in the area of practice that covers your situation. Or, fax your name, contact information, and a one-page summary of the situation about which you wish to consult one of our attorneys to (704) 333-6209.
FAQs
How do I pay? You will need to pay a $50 non-refundable fee directly to the Lawyer Referral Service (LRS). You may mail your payment before your initial consultation, or you may pay by credit or bring your payment directly to the LRS office. Once LRS receives payment, you will receive the name of an attorney with whom you may schedule your initial consultation. You do not have to pay the attorney any additional fees for a 30-minute consultation once you have received a referral from LRS.
What if I don't need more than 30 minutes with the lawyer you refer me to? You are entitled to a 30-minute consultation with our attorney when you have paid LRS the $50 non-refundable fee. After that 30-minute consultation, there is no further obligation on your part.
What if I want more than 30 minutes at the initial consultation? The $50 non-refundable fee entitles you to a referral to an attorney for a 30-minute consultation. If you think you want more than 30 minutes, you may make arrangements with the attorney referred to you for a longer consultation upon any terms that you and he or she agree to.
What if, after the initial consultation, I want to retain the attorney for additional services? You may of course decide to hire the attorney for additional services, upon such terms as you and that attorney may agree.
