MCB members are talking about Mecklenburg County Bars CLE webcasts&

It was great.  I could just sit here and watch and eat my lunch.  Very efficient and definitely interesting.  By the way, thank you for having these available to us.  I was so busy last year that I got very behind with my CLE requirements.  I really appreciate having the ability to take these courses - especially from the comfort of my own office.  I plan on attending another webcast tomorrow, one in-person CLE on Friday, and another webcast on Feb 19.

CLE Information You Need to Know

Questions?  Please contact us at 704/375-8624 or the State Bar CLE Department at 919/733-0123 or www.nccle.org.

a. All active members of the North Carolina State Bar are required to earn 12 hours of approved CLE during each calendar year (January 1 through December 31). If you have not earned the required 12 hours by the 31st of December, the NCSB permits attorneys to take CLE courses in January and February of the following year to cure any deficit without penalty. Look for several live and video selections presented locally during this time period.

b. Of the 12 annual CLE hours, at least 2 hours must be devoted to the area of ethics or professionalism.  Every third year, attorneys are required to take 1.0 hour of Substance Abuse/Mental Health Instruction. There is no longer a practical skills requirement. Members may also carry over hours into the next calendar year up to a maximum of 12 hours, 2 of which may be ethics.

c. The MCB is an accredited provider of CLE and reports your attendance at all of our courses to the NCSB.  Should you have questions regarding your cumulative annual CLE credit hour totals please contact the NCSB CLE department at 919.733.0123. Annual reports (received by you in January) should reflect all the CLE hours that the NCSB has on file for you for the entire preceding calendar year regardless of the sponsor.  Sign the form and return to NCSB by the last day of February to avoid penalty.  If the form is incorrect, you may note corrections directly on the form prior to returning it to the NCSB. Courses taken in January and/or February to correct a preceding year deficit can simply be added to the form by the attorney.  Interim reports are received in September.   Corrections can be made directly to the form before submitting the report to NCSB. The interim report reflects activity recorded by the NCSB through June 30 of the current calendar year.
