The panelists will discuss current developments in neuroscience and the ethical implications it has on traditional legal principles of responsibility and punishment and its' applicability in the courtroom. Recent court cases will be cited in which neuroscience has been introduced in an effort to mitigate or excuse alleged criminal conduct. Hear how neuroscience and refinements in MRIs and other diagnostic tools as well as various psychiatric diagnostic processes impact conscious deliberation, rational thinking and self control and how they apply to the ethical practice of law.
