Program & Speakers:

The economic downturn and increased scrutiny of regulators, the media and others are among the many challenges currently facing nonprofit organizations in Mecklenburg County.  Now more than ever, local nonprofits need attorneys to serve on and lead their boards or directors.  This program is designed to give you the tools to successfully serve as a director of a nonprofit.  We will explore the proper role of a nonprofit governing board, how to discharge your fiduciary duties while serving on a nonprofit board, and ways to mitigate your exposure to personal liability in connection with nonprofit board service.  We will also briefly review key legal issues facing nonprofit organizations.
