Program & Speaker:

Desa Ballard entered private practice in 1987 after several years of working for the state court system, first as a law clerk to then-circuit judge Ralph King Anderson, Jr., and later as a law clerk to Chief Judge J.B. “Bubba” Ness.  She practiced with a law firm for ten years, then opened her own office in 1997.  She began doing attorney grievance work because of her familiarity with attorney grievance procedures, which she learned while working at the Supreme Court.  Ms. Ballard has studied the field of attorney ethics issues through membership in the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, and the Center for Professional Responsibility of the ABA.  She has served on several committees with the South Carolina Bar and the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association, and is the former Chair of the Ethics and Professionalism Committee for Trial Lawyers.  She frequently lectures on issues related to legal ethics and professionalism and writes for many legal publications.

With her years of experience, Ms. Ballard with explore the following areas:

·         Best and Worst Lawyer Practices

·         Common Mistakes and Remedies

·         Advertising and Solicitation
