Program & Speakers:

The first hour of this course invites lawyers to consider how the evolving use of email communication affects our ethical duties, the lawyer-client relationship, and our professional relationships.  The Rules of Professional Conduct require lawyers to, among many things; communicate with clients in a way that keeps them reasonably informed of the representation, to act promptly and diligently, and to uphold the duty of confidentiality.  The increased use of email by lawyers and the changing norms of acceptable email etiquette pose significant risks to these important duties and the practice of law.

The second hour of this course will address reoccurring and hot topics regarding conflicts of interest in the practice of law.  While the Rules of Professional Conduct dont change very much over time, courts interpretation of the rules and circumstances giving rise to conflicts do.  This hour will cover current treatment of continuing conflicts quagmires.
